Objective: This course introduces students to MS Excel and MATLAB in solving engineering problems. It presents in-depth knowledge of the above computational tools for use in engineering.

Description: Computing Systems: Hardware/software components & organization, types of software, types of computer languages and concepts for executing a program. Engineering problem-solving methodology. Introduction to software tools for solving engineering problems, spreadsheets for engineers – MS Excel for Windows. Technical use of MS Excel: Characteristics of spreadsheets, Arithmetic operations, Common engineering functions and operations, logic operations, plotting, and simple engineering applications. Introduction to MATLAB for engineering problem-solving.
